Abstract
In the context of lattice gauge theories the standard requirement of local gauge invariance is replaced by BRS invariance. The most general BRS invariant lagrangian is shown to contain as many parameters as the gauge invariant one. This is done by explicitly solving the lattice BRS cohomology problem.
